Thank you for your purchase of The WYNG!
We’re thrilled to see how The WYNG will elevate your on-camera flash photography!
To help you get the most out of it, we’ve put together some care tips and a few of our favorite camera settings.
Our Favorite Indoor On-Camera Settings
Here are our go-to camera settings for indoor on-camera flash photography, using Canon equipment:
We primarily shoot with the Canon 6D and 600EX flash, keeping the flash in ETTL mode 99.9% of the time. Our go to lenses: 24-105mm f/4.0 and 70-200mm f/2.8
General Indoor Flash Settings:
- Aperture: We aim for the lowest f-stop available to let in as much light as possible.
- Shutter Speed: We typically start between 1/125 and 1/250, adjusting as needed.
- ISO: Based on the lighting conditions, we adjust ISO to create a balanced exposure with the aperture and shutter speed.
Specific Scenarios:
- Bride & Groom Suites: These rooms often have minimal natural light. When necessary, we set the ISO around 1600 to get the right balance.
- Church Ceremonies & Receptions: In these settings, we use ISO 1600 with a shutter speed above 1/160 to capture movement clearly.
These settings are not a guarantee but provide a strong foundation for capturing well-lit, sharp images in indoor environments that require flash fill.
Fit, Storage and Protection
When you first receive your WYNG the fit is purposefully tight by design to ensure it stays on your flash head and does not fall off. We recommend attaching it to your flash head while it is not on your camera for the first few times. The 3D printed material will soften up and be easier to put on each time you use it.
Since The WYNG is white, it’s best to keep it packed in its plastic bag or tucked away in your camera bag when not in use. This helps protect it from dust and exposure to direct light, which over time can naturally cause slight yellowing in most white materials. By storing it properly, you’ll ensure it stays clean, bright, and ready for your next shoot.
